Motorola seems to be looking to build upon the sales of its Moto G (5th generation) devices and going with the trend, has launched a dual-camera variant in the same series. This time around, Moto has also decided to stick with a single variant for their new device and here we are going to compare the specs of the Moto G5 Plus and the new Moto G5S Plus.
G5S Plus Gets a Bigger Display and Better Design
While the Moto G5 Plus came with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, the Moto G5S Plus gets a slightly bigger display at 5.5-inch. Other than that, the Moto G5S Plus also comes in a unibody metal design which the Moto G5 Plus lacks.
Same Snappy Processor
The Moto G5 Plus and Moto G5S Plus are both powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC which clocks at 2GHz and is supported by Adreno 506 GPU.
Memory and Storage
The Moto G5 Plus came in two variants. The one now priced at Rs 14,999 features 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The cheaper variant of the G5 Plus comes with 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The Moto G5S Plus features 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. The internal storage on both the devices can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. The storage available on the Moto G5S Plus is double of what is available on the Moto G5 Plus. While an increased storage isn’t all that necessary since expanding is an option, it sure doesn’t hurt to have those extra GBs at your disposal.
Dual-Lens Camera vs Single-Lens
Moto G5 Plus sports a 12MP single-lens camera on the rear and a 5MP selfied shooter with a wide-angle lens. Moto G5S Plus sports a dual-lens rear camera with two 13MP sensors (Monochrome and RGB) and an 8MP selfie camera with flash. With the addition of the dual-camera to the device, Motorola plans to take photography a notch above. The dual camera not only brings the Bokeh effect to the device but also gives users the option to adjust the blur and also black and white colors on a snap. While the camera on the Moto G5 Plus isn’t bad at all, the dual-camera features including the aforementioned adjustments make it a better bet especially since it just costs 1000 bucks more.
Battery Stays the Same
Both Moto G5 Plus and Moto G5S Plus are backed by a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charging-enabled which — according to company claims — charges the device enough for 6 hours of usage within 15 minutes of charge.
Moto G5S Plus is a Better Bet
The Moto G5S Plus offers a better build quality, bigger display, increased internal storage and significantly improved camera specs that are in-line with the current trend. Given that Moto has upped the quality of the device considerably and has priced it lower than G5 Plus’ initial cost (Rs 16,999), the Moto G5S Plus unarguably offers better value for money than the Moto G5 Plus.
