Also, I just wanted to quickly mention here that these are my personal opinions and I am not a critic and this is not a review. This is merely a list of hilarious comedy specials that I have enjoyed watching and, hence, wanted to share with all our readers. So, without further ado, let’s begin.

1. Biswa Kalyan Rath: Biswa Mast Aadmi

Biswa Kalyan Rath is known for his intelligent comedy and that is what exactly we get to see throughout his special, Biswa Mast Aadmi. The show is well-structured and similar to a movie, has a beginning, a middle, and a hilarious end. One of the best aspects of this special is his unique observations and take on the most simple and mundane things of everyday life. His material is simple yet refreshing. The 60-minute show is full of punchlines that are so smart and meta-theatrical that there might be instances where you have to pause and rewind to actually get the joke. Look out for the bit where he talks about the time when he tried to be cool by playing cricket. All in all, Biswa’s comedy special is definitely one of my most favorites on the list as he is just effortlessly funny. Watch this Mast Aadmi right away.

2. Zakir Khan: Haq Se Single

If you’ve seen any of Zakir Khan’s video, you will agree that he is a brilliant storyteller. I have seen Zakir’s performance live and he has the magic to captivate the audience till the end of the show. He continues to weave the magic of storytelling with Haq Se Single. Zakir instantly tries to connect with you, especially when he talks about modern love, relationships, break-ups, and family. The 90-minute show is entirely in Hindi and, hence, has a different feel and pace compared to other specials. One of the best things about his content is that it feels true and extremely relatable. Go ahead and see why this Sakth Launda is Haq Se Single.

3. Kanan Gill: Keep it Real

Although Kanan had grabbed the spotlight from Pretentious Movie Reviews with Biswa, he has also made a mark for himself in the stand-up comedy space. The material in Keep it Real is pretty simple and the jokes are a delight. The 60-minute special has some great punchlines and couple of interesting observations about life in general. From the advantages of having a sibling to the struggles of getting through an engineering college, the content just gets better and you want to keep listening to him. Look out for the bit about he talks about how he got his driving license. There is hardly a dull moment in the entire show. Watch it to relax and have a good time after a long day of work.

4. Arvind SA: Madrasi Da

As the name suggests, Madrasi Da is about Arvind’s childhood in Chennai. The unique Tamil-English accent and his accounts about growing in Mylapore, a particularly old and conservative place in Chennai, are simply hilarious. His stories are genuinely funny and will crack you up even if you don’t know much about Chennai. Of course, it’s a delight for people from Chennai as he makes it more relatable with a few Tamil punchlines and slangs. Check out this Madrasi deliver some refreshing humor with a hot cup of filter kaapi!

5. Sapan Verma: Obsessive Comedic Disorder

Sapan Verma is a member of East India Comedy popularly known as EIC, a comedy collective. He starts the show by talking about lesser-known mental disorders such as OCD in a funny yet non-offensive way. Although this 80-minute show becomes a bit slow in the middle, his take on socio-political topics such as beef and porn ban in India will surely make you laugh. Look out for the bit about the cool Uber driver. His content will be more relatable to the kids from the 90s where the times were vastly different as compared to now. The material is not too fancy but still manages to crack you up. All in all, Obsessive Comedic Disorder is funny and definitely worth a watch.

6. Kenny Sebastian: Don’t Be That Guy

Kenny is one of my favorite comedians in India. His observations about the small things of daily-to-day life are perfectly on point. He has been a big deal in the Indian comedy space for some time now and is majorly known for his bits about middle-class habits. Coming to his special, I was a bit underwhelmed, as the material in the show is great but not as amazing as his previous shows. He starts off slow and takes some time to get into the act. Look out for the bit about his Goa story. However, the show gets more interesting and funny once he brings out his guitar. The 60-minute special has a few good punchlines to look out for.

7. Varun Thakur: Vicky This Side. Varun That Side

Varun Thakur is a hit on Instagram and Snapchat for his alter-ego, Vicky Malhotra, a struggling actor. With Vicky This Side. Varun That Side, we get to see both the characters at their best. There are several instances where Vicky Malhotra talks about feminism and women in general, which is funny. However, I’m not sure if everyone will take those jokes in the right spirit. Look for the part where Vicky talks about being a DJ. In case of Varun, the material is simple and funny enough to make you laugh. There is no reason why you should not watch this little-over-60-minute comedy special. As Vicky would say, “Yo-selfs will love this very pretty show. Take it from ma-selfs!“

8. Azeem Banatwala: Cometh The Hour

Azeem is also a member of the EIC. The first thing you will spot about Azeem, besides his tall stature, is his eloquence. The entire 60-minute special is filled with smart punchlines and funny takes on things that are relatable, especially to people living in Mumbai. Look out for the bit about married couples. The material ranges from various topics, including millennials, perils of a married life, and, of course, Muslim bikers. You should definitely check out Azeem’s Cometh The Hour as you will not be disappointed.

Hop on the Laughter Wagon

We are living in a time where people are getting offended easily and are having second thoughts about enjoying a good laugh. But this scenario should be the other way around. I thoroughly enjoyed all the comedy specials mentioned above. Hope you will also laugh out loud watching them. Let us know which comic made you laugh the hardest. The comment section is below.
